an inspiration from the Lord Jesus Christ and is dedicated to Him because of all the wonderful things He has done for me.

My family has been my biggest and most important
fans and supporters. My husband inspires me and encourages me to do better. Without his love and ideas, this could never have
been. My beautiful daughter Laurie created this site as a birthday gift and I will always treasure her bright smile and creative
ideas for enhancing this site and her enthusiasm for the Mexican Arts. My sweet daughter Emily, has been a lifesaver, allowing
me the time to work on my art while she takes care of our home and many times our meals. My precious little son, encourages
me to keep at it and he loves everything I do, what a terrific boy he is.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN...............one
day my husband and I were out garage sailing and we stopped by a junk shop, there on a table of many things was a big, ugly
old, weird, green piggy bank. He was so ugly, I begged Bob not to buy it. I just couldn't imagine what he saw in it. We walked
around looking at other items, but HE came back to look at it again. The lady that owned the shop said it was something special.
I said, "Oh reeeeally". She further said, it was an antique and that it was from Mexico, AND that it was made of something
called chalkware. We had never heard that word before. So, you guessed it, Bob bought the pig. We took it home and I put it
on the table and we all had a good laugh. This ugly pig was the beginning of an adventure on Ebay, looking for more chalkware
and to see if this old pig was worth any money. Well, he is worth some money but he is not for sale, he is far to precious
a pig now for selling. Anyway, as we looked on line for more of this chalkware stuff we ran into all kinds of Mexican prints
from the 1940's. Calendar prints as they are called. When my husband and I saw them we embarked on a collection of chalkware,
calendar prints, and vintage tablecloths. From this vast collection, I started to try and draw these graphics and images of
the old art upon paper. I always figured that I could never draw anything but those famous stick people. But this time, it
was different. I had such a passion for it that I couldn't sleep at night sometimes and would have to get up before
my ideas left me. That passion and creativity still gets me today. So, after drawing many pages of mexican people, cactus,
palmtrees and missions, I said to myself, self, try and draw on a terra cotta pot. That is how it began.
From drawing on the pots, I started
sewing the vintage pillows made from tablecloths of the 40's. The tablecloths would have a hole or a tear and I couldn't bear
to cut them up for the longest time. But after my first one, it was easier. Once they were cut into a useable pillow,
they came out very colorful and so I began selling them on Ebay. The response was overwhelming.
Today, I try and spend as much time
as I can painting pottery and making pillows special order for people who love these as much as I do. Thank you for enjoying
my passion. If you see one you like on any of my pages, please contact me at: ranchoromantico@yahoo.com and I will create a pillow and matching art pot for you. Thank you so much and God Bless you today.........Victoria
